Why BurnBox?

We started BurnBox with a simple idea: buying good-quality British firewood should be easy, convenient and affordable, even when space is at a premium.

Rather than expecting you to find room for a large delivery of loose logs, we carefully pack our firewood into manageable boxes that can be tucked away in a cupboard, garage or somewhere else dry until you’re ready to use them.

Every 50 litre BurnBox contains roughly 20 substantial logs, each individually fitted into place by hand. We take care to keep the gaps small, making the most of every box rather than simply throwing the logs in.

Order as and when you need them, or save 10% with our flexible subscription service. You can change, pause or cancel your deliveries whenever you like, so you’re always in control.

Our Wood

We believe the best fires start with good wood, which is why we use carefully selected British hardwoods, each with its own character and burning qualities.

Ash is our king of home fires. Easy to light, with a beautiful, lively flame and lovely steady warmth, it’s a wonderful all-round choice for everyday fires.

Oak is dense, substantial and wonderfully long-burning once established. Perfect for those evenings when you want the warmth to linger a little longer.

Mixed Hardwood brings together a lovely selection of British hardwoods, predominantly ash, offering excellent everyday value and a little variety in every box.

All our logs are carefully kiln-dried to a target moisture content of around 12%, with some even drier. They’re Ready to Burn certified, so there’s no need for further seasoning or months of storage before you can enjoy them.

Each log is cut to between 20cm and 25cm long, making them a practical choice for many household wood burners, fireplaces and suitable outdoor fires.

Responsible & Sustainable

We believe good firewood should care for the countryside it comes from. That’s why we source our British timber from responsibly managed woodlands and trusted UK suppliers, including the Forestry Commission and local tree surgeons.

But our approach to making the most of natural resources doesn’t stop with the timber itself.

Our logs are kiln-dried using residual heat from our nearby biomass plant, putting energy that might otherwise go to waste to good use. Even the sawdust has a purpose. It becomes bedding for local poultry sheds before being returned to the land as a natural fertiliser for the fields growing crops that help fuel the biomass plant.

It’s a wonderfully practical cycle, giving useful materials another purpose rather than allowing them to go to waste.

Every BurnBox is packed into recyclable cardboard, and wherever possible, we reuse suitable outer packaging to give perfectly good boxes a second life.

When your logs are ready, they’re delivered straight to your door by DPD through their carbon-neutral UK delivery service.

Of course, burning wood still produces emissions, and we believe in being straightforward about that. Using properly dried logs, maintaining good airflow and choosing a suitable, well-maintained appliance all help you enjoy your fire more responsibly.

From woodland to wood burner, we believe it’s worth making thoughtful choices at every stage. Because looking after the countryside we love is just as important as enjoying the warmth it provides.

The family behind BurnBox

BurnBox is a family-run business based in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, owned and operated by Edward Creaser and his family.

We love a good fire ourselves. There’s nothing quite like coming home on a cold evening, lighting the wood burner and settling down for the night. But we also know that not everyone has the room, or the inclination, to store enormous quantities of firewood.

We wanted to offer something a little more convenient: genuinely good British firewood, carefully prepared, thoughtfully packed and delivered in quantities that suit everyday life.

Our family also runs our sister business, the Natural Dog Food Company. While dog food and firewood might seem rather different, both businesses share something important to us: a belief in good products, honest service and taking proper care of our customers.

Thoughtfully packed boxes

We take real care over every BurnBox, right down to the way the logs are packed.

Our distinctive branded boxes feature the BurnBox flame stamp and ventilation holes to allow air to circulate. Inside, each log is carefully fitted into place by hand, making the most of the 50 litre space and ensuring you receive a generously packed box of British firewood.

You might occasionally notice that your delivery arrives in an outer box bearing the Natural Dog Food Company name. Don’t worry, it’s still your logs inside! We sometimes reuse clean, sturdy cardboard boxes from our sister business, giving perfectly good packaging a second life rather than throwing it away.

Once your logs arrive, simply keep them somewhere dry and safely away from your fire. And when the box has done its job, you can flatten it and pop it into your cardboard recycling.

It’s all part of our approach to doing things properly, avoiding unnecessary waste and making the simple pleasure of a real fire that little bit easier.
